About The Samaritan Legend
Association
The idea of establishing the
Association first started by a group of young Samaritan men and
women. Despite the importance of this communion religiously,
historically and socially as well as the nobility of their customs,
traditions and culture as one of the ancient and successive
civilizations on The Holy Land, it did not receive sufficient
attention from authors, researchers and many others. Therefore we
thought that it was our duty as people belonging to the Samaritan
sect that today represents the smallest, oldest and most prestigious
communion in the world, that lived and still live on the land of
Palestine, to represent it in a way that shows all its aspects and
related issues. Here came along the idea of establishing this
association with the aim of achieving many goals.
Message of the Samaritan Legend Association
Our message is clear in trying to
provide the truth about the Samaritan sect. We sincerely hope and
have great confidence that our association will gain the interest
and admiration of many in its attempt to provide informational
services in the future that will help in understanding the
traditions and customs of our people.
Objectives of the Association
1 - Providing information on the Samaritan sect and religion,
including their history, habits, traditions, religious rituals and
other related things.
2 - Expressing the Samaritan real identity, since there are still a
lot of people who believe that this sect is Jewish. This sect which is
represented by a minority of not more than730 people could, through
ages, preserve and maintain their own Samaritan identity as Israelis
not Jews. There are a lot of radical differences between Samaritans
and Jews that are obvious to any researcher.
3 -Being a bridge to world peace. We appeal for peace and hope it will
be achieved in the near future across all the Palestinian territories
to live in peace and harmony.
4 - Maintaining the heritage, culture and history of the Samaritan
communion.
5 - Popularizing the Samaritan culture and history to the world
through conferences, seminars and lectures.
6 - Putting an end to erroneous beliefs about the Samaritan sect as
being a Jewish community.
7 - Highlighting the Samaritan point of view of peace.
8 - Communicating with all segments of society.
9 - Helping young Samaritan people in their study and other things.

Apollonia-Arsuf Excavation Project
Dr. Oren TalThe
Site and the Excavations
Apollonia-Arsuf is located in the northwestern part of the modern city of
Herzliya on a kurkar (fossilized dune sandstone) ridge overlooking
the Mediterranean shore (Fig. 1). The site lies 17 km north of
Joppa and 34 km south of Caesarea. The ground of the eastern part of the
site rises 35 m above sea level, and from there gently slopes down to the
west, to about 20 m above sea level (Fig. 2).

Old-time religion in new-fangled (sort of) Israel
08/04/2010 by Sue Swartz article with great photos
A group of girls arrived
before evening Sunday at Mitzpeh Yosef on the Samarian Har (Mt.) Gerizim
and had a discussion within the framework of the Hebrew Cities March,
which started in the Samarian Jewish community of Shevut Ami on Sunday
and is scheduled to continue to the Dead Sea city of Jericho by Tuesday.
A group of boys did not get there after the commander of the
Samaria Brigade declared a "closed military zone" on the highway from
the Jewish community of Har Bracha in the direction of the Samaritan
neighborhood, claiming that a gathering on hill known as Tel Ar-Ras was
illegal.
Participants in the march
said only travel by Jews was banned and that the Samaritans were allowed
to travel freely.

The realization of
the opera Samaritans has been shaped by field research done by
the composer in collaboration with Prof. Nicola Scaldaferri,
supported by Magà Global Arts Around The World, with the help
of the Leav, University of Milan.
A primary goal of the research was to gather sound and visual
examples for the multimedia section of the opera, and
experimentation with the traditional singers of new creative
possibilities based on an analysis of Samaritan music.
However, this produced findings of scientific interest and in
a constant dialogue between the artistic dimension and the
ethno-musicological research.

Searching the internet for Samaritan books can be quit the challenge. I
use the two larger websites, Amazon.com
and Abebooks.com. Recently, I looked at
Samaritan Scribes & Manuscripts (Texts & Studies in Ancient Judaism,
80) (ISBN: 3161474902 / 3-16-147490-2) by Alan David Crown. On
Abebooks, the price is $248.18 to $396.80 for new books. Amazon.com has a
price ranging from 151.00 to 214.97 for used books and 164.50 to 404.32
for new. in this case Amazon has the3 best price of 164.50 for a new book,
a savings of 83.68 not meaning shipping charges, which should be
calculated in. Sometimes if you are not careful, the shipping charges can
be expensive and out of line. So be frugal in your purchases.

the high priest (kohen gadol) of the Samaritan community in the Middle East.
According to Samaritan tradition, the office has existed continuously since
Aaron, the brother of Moses. This would not be accepted by all historians,
but the office may well go back to the Hellenistic period, which would still
make it the oldest office in the world. One account in Josephus suggest that
it is an offshoot of the Zadokite high priests in Jerusalem from around the
time of Alexander the Great. ... More: http://booksllc.net/?id=22266908

Product Description
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly
growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances
in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of
revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic
proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of
its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of
original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them
highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent
scholars.
The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical
understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works
collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on
the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw
conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one
between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first
century.
